Playoffs in 99 were extremely frustrating. I remember in the Buffalo series Hasek being hurt for game 5 i believe and we lost a game that was a huge opportunity. In 02 we ran into the injury bug especially vs Carolina (sundin, tucker, domi came back but clearly not 100%) but probably never had a chance against Detroit anyways (the 02 wings was probably the best team of the past 20+ years IMO).

Great write up. Leaf and Canuck fans might not have much common ground, but I think that we're on the same page when it comes to our regard for Quinn.

RIP Pat Quinn.

Guy was a great coach and person. He was behind the bench and helped assemble the last good team the Leafs have had. Those Conference finals runs were entertaining though they ended in agony.

Just a shock to hear he had died. Definitely a guy that will not be forgotten.

Rest In Peace Mr. Quinn. I had some tears in my eyes today when I read this news. He was one of my favourite Leaf coaches, him and Pat Burns. I've never ever met the guy but he just seemed like a guy you would loved to have had a chance to sit and have a beer with. So long Pat.

There was something about Quinn that will always make him one of the most respected men in the game.

Don Cherry likes to say that playing with tough players makes everybody on the team grow a foot and I feel like that's what Quinn did as a coach. The guys that played for him went to war for him and were happy to do it too.

And I was happy to watch it.

My two favs. Actually brought the idea up of him coaching the Devils the other day ( had no idea of his illness ). Two of my favourite coaches though !
